Mind and Heart: Chapter 8 - Guard Your Heart: Biblical Message for Days of Tribulation
My YouTube channel
In days of tribulation, keeping your heart firm and protected is essential to face challenges with faith and hope. The Bible instructs us to guard our hearts, because it is from them that the feelings, decisions and attitudes that shape our lives emanate. In difficult times, this spiritual protection becomes even more vital.
1. Why is Guarding Your Heart Essential?
Proverbs 4:23 teaches us: "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life."
The heart represents the center of our emotions, thoughts and desires. When we do not protect this center, we are vulnerable to distractions, fears and influences that distance us from GOD.
In days of tribulation, guarding your heart means:
• Protecting yourself from doubts and discouragement.
• Keeping your focus on GOD's promises.
• Rejecting thoughts that steal your peace.
2. Bible Lessons to Guard Your Heart in Difficult Times
a) Trust in the LORD Completely
Psalm 34:18 states, “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
• In times of pain, trust that GOD is near and that HE understands your suffering.
• Take your fears and concerns to the LORD in prayer.
b) Reject Fear and Despair
John 14:1 says, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in GOD; trust also in me.”
• Don’t let circumstances rob you of your trust in GOD.
• Remember that HE has a plan for your life, even in difficult times.
c) Strengthen Yourself in the Word of GOD
Psalm 119:105 declares, "Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path."
• Read the Bible daily to nourish your faith.
• Use GOD's promises as an anchor for your heart in times of uncertainty.
3. How to Protect Your Heart During Tribulation
a) Avoid Negative Influences
Proverbs 4:25-27 advises: “Always look ahead; keep your eyes fixed on what is ahead of you.”
• Stay away from content and people that promote discouragement and unbelief.
• Stay close to those who build your faith and encourage you to move forward.
b) Keep Praying
Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
• Make prayer your refuge and place of rest.
• Seek the peace of God to protect your heart.
c) Rest in GOD's Promises
Isaiah 41:10 offers comfort: "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your GOD. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my victorious right hand."
• Remember that GOD never abandons you.
• Trust that HE is working on your behalf, even when you can’t see it.
4. The Fruits of a Heart Kept in GOD
• Peace in the Midst of Storms: When we trust in GOD, HE gives us peace that goes beyond our circumstances.
• Strength to Persevere: A protected heart finds strength to continue.
• Renewed Faith: Guarding our heart keeps us firm in God’s promises, renewing hope.
Conclusion: Guard Your Heart and Trust in the LORD
In times of trouble, guarding our heart is an act of faith that connects us to GOD’s love and care. When we place our trust in HIM, we are empowered to overcome challenges and experience peace, even in hardship.
